ART GONE OLD - THE THREE AGES OF WOMAN (1905) by GUSTAV KLIMT

I AM FOND OF ART. I am fond of women. I'm also fond of exploring the effects that time has on us as human beings. Take all three of these things that I have a fondness for and toss 'em in a blender on "HI," and I am in Heaven. That is exactly where artist Gustav Klimt places me whenever I look upon what I consider to be one of his greatest masterpieces, The Three Ages of Woman (1905).
It depicts a female child in the embrace of a beautiful, young adult woman in her prime and beside them stands a withered,  old crone with bowed head being held in one hand (perhaps lamenting over her lost youth). A little tragic, yes, but the beauty in this image is undeniable. It is as beautiful symbolically as it is aesthetically.
I have yet to set my eyes on another work of art that has been able satisfy my thirst for female age progression. It's completely brilliant.

JUST A NOTE: The old crone in this painting was in fact inspired by one of Auguste Rodin's famous sculptures, The Old Courtesan. More on that later.

PRETTY GIRL TO PRETTY OLD GRANNY

AGE PROGRESSED images of attractive young women are few and far between on the web. Also, there are fewer still that are well crafted. Every once in awhile, I'll stumble upon one in my daily perusal of the web. Here's one that really impressed me. I added what I estimated her age to be in each frame.
I wish I could tell you who the artist is that created these fantastic age progressions but the website that  I sourced them from credited them to AgingWithBeauty which, unfortunately, is a dead link.
    Whoever did these, kudos!

BACK TO THE NOW: Lea Thompson Living Through Her BTTF Age

IN A RECENT INTERVIEW with HuffPost Live, actress Lea Thompson addressed the fact that she is now the same age as her role in Back to the Future 2. " By the way, she happens to be turning 53 tomorrow!
It's pretty cool to see how her face has aged in comparison to what the makeup artists envisioned for the movie. Click on the image to get a closer look at the numerous wrinkles on her face.
Too bad that we have to wait another 25 years to see how Grandma Lorraine compares to Grandma Lea.

GGO Birthday - ALYSON HANNIGAN

THE CAST OF BUFFY is getting up there in age... Happy birthday to Alyson Hannigan who turns a ripe 40 today. Can you believe that? I know I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the concept that Willow is now middle-aged.
A great big thank you to YD for doing me a solid and aging Alyson in Photoshop and giving us a preview of what she may look like in another 15 to 20 years from now.
